Payment for this service

What is it worth? If these classes were a conventional business or professional service, a payment of about $20 per 90-minute session might be required. However, they are not that kind of service, but are a coaching service based on things that cannot be required, and therefore no payment for them is required.

Coaching vs. Requiring. To get a driver’s license, you must pay the required fee and pass the required tests. To receive a college degree, you must pass the school’s academic requirements. To receive your monthly paycheck, you must do the work required of you. To get your employees to keep working, you must pay them their required wages. There are, however, things that cannot be required in the above situations, like enjoying the work, being happy, or seeking to do more than is required.

Those who seek coaching (athletics, music, dance, art, public speaking, writing, etc.), whether or not they personally pay for that coaching service, are seeking help in achieving a higher or deeper level of skill. The foundation for that kind of achievement is in their inward desiring, asking, seeking and choosing, their inner discipline. This is a realm in which requiring leads to less, and free choice leads to more.

The relationship between the learner’s seeking and the coach’s teaching is an interesting one, hinging mainly on two factors. One is that the full achievement of the learner’s desires depends partly on his doing some things which he would never think of on his own, and the fact that doing these new things can be difficult and sometimes scary so that he needs the coach’s supportive presence in order to progress. Coaching normally involves more than one session, as all skills require extended practice to fully develop.

As a Child Grows. Children who are raised under the pressure of requirements usually grow up doing what is required pretty well. But children who are raised with a “coaching” philosophy usually develop far more of their innate potential. Here is an adaptation of this approach, from the hymn “I Am a Child of God,” re-stated as guidance for coaches.

Lead them, guide them, walk beside them, help them find the way. Teach them all that they must do to be fulfilled some day.

Payment for this Service. Young children are not required to pay money to their parents. Karl’s online coaching clients are not required to pay him money for this service. He does put considerable time, energy and money into maintaining his website and online classroom and conducting the classes. He expects that those who are willing and able will pay him something as seems appropriate to them. When you are ready to do this, you may use the Payment button below.  Please feel free to contact him with any questions you may have.
